The government of Israel is aggressively bidding to regain observer status in the AFRICAN Union. Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu desires for Israel to have more influence on Africa than Palestine and thus wants to be a key player within the African Union. Unfortunately, in 2018, many African presidents have supported Netanyahu’s ambitions. The president of Ghana and Kenya have privately and publicly supported Benjamin Netanyahu’s ambition for a seat at the African Union. The government of Israel previously had observer rights in the African Union but was kicked out in 2004.
