William Ruto was elected Vice President of Kenya in 2013 alongside
President Uhuru Kenyatta. He once served as acting President of the country for 3 days while President Uhuru Kenyatta was summoned to the International Criminals Court (ICC). William Ruto is married to Rachel Ruto with whom he has children Nick Ruto and Abby Ruto. Young Ruto, 53 years old in 2019, has ambitions to be the most powerful man in Kenya someday.

William Ruto once ran for President of Kenya in 2007, losing his party’s ticked to Raila Odinga (Popular Read: Who Is Raila Odinga?). Today, Raila Odinga is on the opposition side of Kenyatta and Ruto’s government. It was in 2011 that Kenyatta was fired as minister of higher education under President Mwai Kibaki; after which he lobbied his way into a partnership with Kenyatta for the 2013 Presidential elections the duo won.
